The heaviest thing in a badly built travel kit is a passive adapter holding a heavy charger away from the wall at an angle. Sockets in older hotels do not grip well, and the assembly falls out overnight.

One thing a multi-plug charger does not do: change the voltage of an appliance that cannot handle it. Chargers and laptops are almost universally 100 to 240V, so they are fine. Hair tools and kettles from a 100V or 120V country are not, and no USB charger changes that.

Trap two: the hub’s HDMI line

A hub with an HDMI port is not the same as a hub that drives a screen well. The cheap tier commonly caps at 4K at 30Hz, which is acceptable for a slide deck and awful for a mouse pointer, because the pointer visibly steps rather than glides.
